Since my new SE400 arrived I had a tension and noise problem OOTB :( I replaced this part and it has run perfectly (and a bunch) quieter! I suggest that if you have the same situation with your SE400 to replace this race before returning the machine. It is EXACTLY the same part as the original. Upon comparing my original part with this one I discovered that my original race was missing a small piece of plastic (defective part).

Was having problems with my Brother SE625. The thread cut button wasn't working and my thread kept on bunching up on the needle. When I went to the specialized shop to ask for help they said that it had to do with bobbin case and that there was a nick somewhere. I tried sending it down, in hopes of anything it out but when that failed it was time to buy a new one in hopes it would solve my problem. The Brother brand bobbin case was $20+ (a little pricey for me, especially when I wasnt 100% sure this was going to solve my problem). Ran across this one and figured why not. In comparison, it looks almost identical expect doe the fuzz part, this seems a little smaller than the manufacturer version. When I replaced it, everything ran smoothly!! Had it for 3-4 months now and have done made 50 or so embroideries and haven't had a problem.

My sewing machine stopped working and I had no clue how to fix it. I read about the bobbin case being the problem and ordered one from a sewing supply company. Then I checked out Amazon. They had the same bobbin case for half the price. I discovered that the bobbin case cannot have even the tiniest flaw or it will not work. Mine would not allow the bobbin thread to come up out of the sewing plate. The bobbin case looked OK but it was not. While I was sewing a heavy garment, the needle must have moved and scraped the bobbin case. That was all it took to keep the machine from sewing properly. Now I have an extra bobbin case on hand just in case.
