Whether timer switch can be installed without a neutral wire?
No, the neutral wire is necessary. Please confirm whether there is a neutral wire in the electrical wiring in your home before purchasing.
When I complete the installation, the screen is blank. Why is this?
It may be that the power supply is insufficient. Please charge the timer for 10 minutes first, then press Reset to start programming.
After completing the programming, why does the device not turn on and off as programmed?
Possible reasons: 1. The timer is in manual mode. 2. The Random and DST function is active. 3. Programming weren’t correctly set. 4. Multiple programs on the timer that conflict with each other or program are overlapped.
If the program is not running as I set, what should I do?
1. Press the Prog button to check whether each program has been set correctly and programs are not overlapped. 2. Confirm that the timer is in AUTO mode and the Random function is deactivated. 3.Confirm current time isn't changed due to DST is active
What is the random function?
When the random function is active, the program will be randomly delayed for 5-30 minutes to create a “lived-in” appearance when the occupant is away.

This works great and was easy to program.
I use it for an exhaust fan in a laundry room. Programmed so that it only comes on seven times a day for each day of the week. We live in AZ so we do not encounter problems with mold or mildew because of the very low humidity. This keeps the laundry room air fresh and moves the air around.
The backlight is blue if you want to order the unit with it. I look at it as not needed as once it is programmed you don’t need to check anymore. The cover under the display acts as a push on-off switch if you need to run it extra outside the programmed times.
Easy to install and came with the wire nuts and a cover plate.
The proposed procedures below, tested by the reviewer, are based on the switch being replaced, instead of looking at wires from the wall box:
First, turn off the circuit breaker.
Each timer comes with these 5 wires: Black (hot), White (neutral), Red (load or hot), Blue (traveler) and Green (ground).
1. If the light switch being replaced has 2 metal screws, excluding the ground screw, it is called single pole. Connect ground wire (from old switch) to Green. Connect white wire (neutral) to White. Connect source hot wire to Black. Connect remaining wire (load) to Red. Cap the Blue. (How to tell which one is hot and which is load? The hot wire is usually connected to a darkened, oxidized metal screw and should show 110v on multimeter. The load wire shows no voltage.)
2. If the light switch being replaced has 3 metal screws, excluding the ground screw, it is called 3-way switch. Connect ground wire (from old switch) to Green. Connect white wire (neutral) to White. Connect source hot wire, which could be black or red color, to Black. Connect load wire, which could be black or red color, to Red. (How to tell which one is hot and which is load? The hot wire should show 110v on multimeter. The load wire shows no voltage.) Connect the remaining wire to Blue.
Updates:
Agreed with the other reviewers: It’s challenging to squeeze the timer into the existing wall box. Replacing the box with a bigger one is more challenging, since one would have to re-align the old wires. One option is to cut short the timer’s long wires, or use insulation tape to connect the wires.
I would also suggest that the manufacturer to add BN-LINK and product model number to the timer's surface. Why? It can help the customer obtain user manual online and re-learn how to press and hold the tiny buttons to toggle Auto/Manual On/Off. (Since the paper manual is often misplaced.)
Each timer supports 18 programmable modes, which means one can program the timer to control the light on/off for 18 different times a week. For me, I only need one mode: Turn the light on at sunset and off at 2 am.
In many cases, replacing like-for-like switches is very easy. Just mirror the wiring from old switch to new. This is much different however as you need a constant source of power to this device, and you will need to pay particular attention if wiring in a 3-way or 4-way circuit to determine whether you are wiring at the SUPPLY box or LOAD box. Wiring will be different, and the instructions illustrate the wiring color sequences and different configuration requirements for where this device falls into the circuit. This is very important.
If these comments causes one to break a sweat then the safest recommendation is hire an Electrician to install.
Functionally, this device performs quite well. I have it in a 3-way configuration. Regardless what state the device is in (program active and load on/off), the other switch still toggles the load on/off independently - just like a 3-way switch should. If I leave the other switch in its current state, the programmed device will pick up where the next cycle changes state on/off. This is great if someone forgets to toggle the other switch. Also, the device itself is a quick push button on/off, so you do not lose normal 3-way switch functionality at the device either. It has an internal battery backup (which came out of the box mostly charged) to hold time and program functions during power outages. This is a nice plus as you do not have to concern yourself with resetting/reprogramming after power is restored.
This has been a great programmable switch with nice features. I would purchase again in the future!
