Me specifically, I have my air in my bedroom blowing directly at my face and can’t stand it but because of this godsent of a deflector, I can sleep comfortably in the right temp but now with it in my face. I used to turn my air off to sleep and would be angry cause I’d be either too hot or too cold. But now… HEAVENLY. i even purchased an extra one in case this ever breaks on me. I’m writing this review after 7 months of having this item.
Well...all I can say is I really love my new air deflector. It's truly a marvel of 21st century engineering. If you put it over your vent and point the opening up, it blows the air toward the ceiling. If on the other hand, you turn it the other way and point the opening down, it blows the air towards the floor. Absolutely amazing.
It's also what I call "sneaky beautiful". The whole deflector is made out of 100% genuine clear plastic that allows the natural color of the vent to show through. Once you install it you hardly know it's there. Another remarkable feature is how my air deflector is ready for customization if you don't like the awe-natural look. That's right everyone...you can decorate this little beauty to your hearts content with stickers or paint or glitter or crayons or just about anything.(I used animal crackers, gummie bears and super glue.)
The only little tiny problem I had were the magnets didn't really stick to the metal vents. I figured it was my fault since I am not much of an expert in magnetism. No problem though...I just grabbed my roll of duct tape and those babies are up for good.
I hope everyone enjoyed my review and buys a bazillion air deflectors from Amazon. Even though my house only has two vents I may buy a bunch more just because they are so much fun.
The position of the magnets could have been better considered. Strong magnets in the corners would be a superior design. All that said, it functions very well to direct air flow, and the deflector can adjust to fit. As a tip, you can use tape to keep the vent in place while the screws are removed temporarily to attach the deflector.
With air flow directed from the deflector, the room cools much better. It's a good buy.
[I *need* to address the idiotic comment regarding "this melted and my heater is only set to 65 degrees". No. The heat coming out of your register is not the same temp as what the thermostat clicks on at. Your body runs at roughly 98.6 degrees. This air would feel cold on your skin if that were true. Stupid comment.] ANYWAY, so, I temped the air coming from my register and it is a staggering 280 degrees. If this is made out of polycarbonate plastic, then that begins to melt at about 297 degrees, so I can see why this might happen for some folks. And as I watched, I did notice some slight warping, so I decided to buy some heat reflecting spray paint. I'm not sure if this will help in the long run, but it's worth a shot, and it actually looks quite nice up against my register. So, I'm not going to knock off any stars for the seller because if your heater gets up to 290+ degrees then just about anything will probably melt. However, it would be prudent for them to add the temperature information to the listing. Although, to be fair, the listing does specify for *central* forced air heating/cooling only.
