I have 100% (minus a rug in the den) hardware floors or ceramic tile in the bathroom and with my golden lab that sheds so much hair its a daily task to keep the hair off the floor. This vacuum works great, I did not see hardly any hair left (who knows since he sheds 24/7 don't know if its new or the old hair!!!) when I vacuumed...it is a little heavy, and the on/off button is on the right which for some reason for me is a little awkward. I love love the nozzle, it is easy to release and allows me to get into those tight corners with easy. The small floor attachment is a bit flimsy but going up stairs its small enough to get into the corners. I have not used the couch attachment yet since I have leather furniture not sure I will use it much we will see.

Originally i wasn't impressed, just a typical vacuum with ok suction, not bad. However i noticed the agitator bar wasnt turning. Read the manual, hit the floor button and the reset button, but the agitator would not work. Called Kenmore, stepped thru a few things, but no luck. Amazon quickly exchanged it out... and WOW! The second vac is amazing! I vacuumed regularly with my old Dyson, yet on the first use with the Kenmore i nearly filled the little bucket.

I understand that issues happen, but Amazon handled it very well, so no complaints!!

9/23/19 update:
So I've had the vac over a year now and there have been more times I had trouble with the unit than times it worked properly. Many times the agitator bar will not start, a few times the vac made a super loud high pitch sound, several times it got too hot and shut off, today it has some suction but debris is not ending up in the bucket. The hose is totally clear. No idea what's up this time. Typically I leave it alone for a day and it works again.. until the next issue. When it works properly I love the vac, super suction.. but im so disappointed that with all the problems.

I read the reviews here and elsewhere and decided to take a chance. I have brand new super plush carpet and long hair dogs and my old trusty Hoover wouldn't budge. The recommended vacuums from Shaw were way out of my price range plus didn't have attachments for the handful I could afford. I stumbled upon this Kenmore not realizing they made vacuum cleaners and began reading about all the bells and whistles it had and compared it to what Shaw recommended. I hit pay dirt with the Kenmore. The comparison chart Amazon has says there is no dirt sensor but mine has one so that's a bonus. It even has a washable, reusable filter so I bought a back up too, it has numerous attachments that are useful, the pet hair attachment is genius how it works and it works well. Cleaned my oversize couch and 2 chair and half and ottomans with it and was amazed at the hair and dust picked up, I'll have to send a complaint to Stanley Steemer who just cleaned my furniture last month. I turned down the suction power and cleaned my blinds quickly and easily, got a couple of spider webs down, cleaned the dusty fan then got busy on the bare floors and entry rugs which are usually a pain in the keester to vacuum. If this washed windows I'd be in heaven. NO I was not paid for this review, I'm seriously impressed and happy with this new vacuum...oh and it propels itself so it glides and I don't hurt my back. The ONLY con I can think of is I picked up so much dirt, dog hair and dust off of my 2 week old carpet is the cannister had to be emptied 4 times. it's a decent size cannister but it cleans so well, plus new carpets shed so not really a con for the vac. Give it a try if you have super thick carpets or pets. i've had good luck with Kenmore brand appliances, I did get the extended warranty on vac for a few extra bucks so I'm confident I'll continue to be very happy with this vac.

The vacuum has power! If you put in the assist - it pulls you! It works great - unless your careless. I’ve sucked up Christmas ornaments- socks - the belt
Has not broken! That being said - If you have a clog it may take a while to figure out. The entire handle comes apart and most clogs are in the handle. It’s easy to take apart and remove. A lot of people are complaining about the Beater bar not working, and it will stop if gets snagged on something (like I have a very large area rung very high shaggy) and if I move the vaccum too slowly it triggers the bar to stop working- you simply press the assist button with your foot to restart it. Like every vaccum you have to clean it. I clean the beater bar monthly and check the handle for clogs. It’s very heavy - but it has a motor with strong suction. Price for performance can’t be beat. It works just as good as my moms $1000 Electrolux

Like other reviewers, I was going based on the 2019 Consumer Reports' buying guide. While it is a zippy little vacuum, I would have liked to see more from a nearly $200 vacuum.

PROS
1. The maneuverability is really nice. I was impressed with how well I could navigate tight spaces.
2. The auto height adjust is convenient. I have mostly hardwood floors with some area rugs, so the ability to switch from one to the other is nice.
3. The dust bin is easy to change and empty.

Cons
1. As others have noticed, there is a very sharp high pitched whine during operation, and I cannot find the cause. It's not a deal breaker but would be less annoying if the vacuum worked better.
2. The little "floor attachment" is really kind of a joke. It is not easy to remove and replace as it should be, so the couple of times I've used it have been underwhelming.
3. Hard floor suction is inconsistent. I have not yet determined which factor influences it, but I've noticed that super fine dust that the pups bring in from outside is typically left behind.
4. It's hard to tell when controls are pressed or not. For example, there is a foot switch for plush carpet. I'm not sure if we've turned it on or not when vacuuming. Our area rugs are not plush so we don't need it, but when I've experimented with it you really have to focus on the sounds to determine if its pressed or not.

Not a bad vacuum, but certainly not the high performer I would have expected based on CR's review.
