Pros -
+ Basic Setup; provided basic functionality right out of the box
+ Advanced Setup; programing the directory and answering machine was straight-forward and easy to do following the instructions
+ Functionality; Caller ID, answering machine, speakerphone, and ability to set individual ringtones on each lines
+ Range; works well in our large building, with good clarity in every room
+ Quality; handsets and base-station are good physical quality and look professional in our shop
Cons -
- A handset sitting on the base-station will ring, even if you have a call on the base-station speaker. The ringing will be heard by the person on the other end and it is quite loud with one of my customers saying, "Wow, that really blew my ears out." The solution is to take the handset off the base-station when using the speakerphone, but it isn't optimal.
Highly Recommended!

Even though our old phones still work properly, we were excited that we could now get VTech phones with hold, multiple lines, phone to phone intercom and the ability to page other handsets for other people to pick up the line, that we bought this new set.
When I opened the box, I was surprised that physically, these phones were identical to our decade old handsets. Perfect in my opinion. Everything is in the same place for the most part as the old phones which our muscle memory is already set for. What I think is happening, is that VTech is able to offer these highly capable phones at such a low price is because their not having to retool everything.
VTech deserves real respect for this product.
A month later, I received a call from the store saying that one of the phones no longer allowed you to hear the customer. The customer could hear you... but you would hear nothing customer was saying. I drove to the store for a closer inspection and found that the handset in question was stuck in "Headset" mode. No... the phone doesn't actually have a headset mode, but if you plug a headset into the phone it will display a little icon that tells you there is a headset connected. Without a headset around to try and plug into the phone, I simply disconnected the batter and reconnected. As far as I can tell, that has resolved the problem.
After playing with the system a little more, I found it pretty strange that a system with so many handsets does not allow for you to personalize each base. Sure there is an intercom feature that allows you to page all of the handsets or a specific handset... but who really remembers that handset 3 is located next to the gumball machine? It would be nice if you could label that particular handset "Gumball" or whatever tickles you.
Overall, I'm giving this product 4 stars. Who wants to have issues with a cordless phone system. Really? They've been around since the 80's. In addition, why in the heck would you not incorporate features that are available on cheaper 1 line sets.
This product gets a **4 STAR GADGET APPROVAL** . Unless it spawns new features over night... I doubt that there's any chance for redemption.
(However, I really want to get my hands on the Vtech IS7121-2 Handset with video doorbell... even though I hear the doorbell isn't so hot. Oh well... I hear Siemens makes a great cordless...)
This one has a much better vmail system (you can delete a message without listening to the whole thing, etc.)
One of the BEST parts of this unit, and it may seem small, but it REALLY makes a difference, are the plugs.
Instead of having the typical "wall wart" converters that take up more than one plug in a receptacle, or power strip, these have the entire converter in the footprint of one plug with the wire going out the side. It is a small feature like this that really shows that a company is putting thought into their products.
One downside (super minor)- the LCD on the phones don't light until you press a button. The old Vtech lit up once they were removed from the base.
