Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I bought this to make up custom patch cables for various places around the house and it is good quality cable. No complaints yet. Will take me a long time to use all of this for sure
Finding stranded Cat 5-E or Cat-6 cable can be harder than the normal stuff. I make up a LOT of special length patch cables around where I work. Stranded is the standard for patch cables or any that are going to be flexed often. I saw some not so good reviews but those folks probably didn't understand what stranded is used for. This is excellent cable as things tend to be with Monoprice. I use EZ-45 Cat-6 connectors on this cable and it's perfect. The wire diameter is slightly larger, so that's what you do. Go up a size on your connectors and you're good to go. It's also CM-rated for going inside walls. Yes, it's more flexible than a solid wire-cable. It's supposed to be more flexible. Thumbs-up from me.
We are using this cable for temporary use and on devices that move to different locations often (hence the use of stranded cable) I will admit to some concerns when reading about issues with installing connectors and difficulties with pulling the cable due to "limpness", but I have had none of those issues. I have pulled a couple of hundred feet of this cable through 3/4 EMT and had no issues and have used AMP 2 part connectors with no connector failures. This cable does appear to be "snarlier" and likes to catch anything possible when pulling, but taking steps to avoid adding twists does tend to reduce those issues and because this cable does not show as much memory as solid, removing twists tends to straighten it out without any kinks or bends. Overall, this cable appears to work well for our use and while I would not replace solid cable for most of our premises wiring, I would not hesitate to use it for stuff that moves and would benefit from stranded cable.
