When we say Epic, we mean Epic. Our proprietary, multi-patented blend of filter media eliminates up to 99.99% of the harmful contaminants other filters leave behind such as chlorine, heavy metals, industrial & agricultural pollutants and trace pharmaceuticals. Why settle for anything less?

How did we get our start?
Epic was founded by Ash in 2015. Having just moved to the US from Asia and witnessing first hand plastic pollution on the beaches that got him thinking there had to be a solution to this environmental time bomb.
What problem are we solving?
It's now clear that developed countries are the worst offenders of single-use bottle pollution as the citizens of these countries do not trust the quality of their municipal water, due to industrial and agricultural pollutants. The faster the world realizes this-the better for everyone.
Why do we love what we do?
Our goal has always been environmentally minded and we find value in not only practicing environmental stewardship as a company but also supporting others who do the same.
Product Description
The Nalgene OG Story
In the 1970s, conservationists began discouraging the disposal of cans and glass bottles by burning and burial in wilderness & recreation areas, and some places began forbidding such materials by regulation. Nalgene products became popular replacements among backpackers for storing consumables; the light, wide-mouthed high-density bottles were more secure than plastic bags and were used for both liquids and solid foods.
Originally, wilderness travelers purchased Nalgene products from laboratory-equipment suppliers, or perhaps gained access to them in their workplaces.
Company lore has it that Nalgene Company president discovered that his son's Boy Scout troop was using Nalgene laboratory containers when camping. Since then, the company has re-packaged and marketed items for consumer sales through their line of Nalgene Outdoor Products. In 2018, Epic Water Filters & Nalgene began to discuss a collaboration between the Nalgene 32 oz wide mouth bottle and the Urban Filter system from Epic Water Filters (both made in the USA). By early 2019, we finalized the concept and launched the bottle/filter combination.
Why OG Outdoor?
"OG" back in the day used to mean Original Gangster although some people these days use OG as a quicker way of saying "The Original" - at Epic, we thought, what is more OG than the Nalgene 32oz wide mouth bottle? That is why we call it the Epic Nalgene OG. It's the original gangster.
The Epic Nalgene OG Outdoor gives you peace of mind when the water you are about to drink is questionable. Whether filling up at a public fountain, rain water, a local creek, or a mud puddle in Bali, you can have peace of mind that the Epic Outdoor Adventure Filter inside the Epic Nalgene OG Outdoor allows you to drink any water no matter how polluted. The Outdoor Adventure Filter is designed for use with any polluted water source (excluding salt water). This advanced biological water filter instantly purifies water contaminants as you squeeze or suck from your bottle, leaving you with a stress-free experience when drinking from heavily contaminated water sources. Want to use your Epic Nalgene OG Outdoor everyday? No problem, we have an interchangeable Urban filter (sold separately) that is designed to target common North American tap water contaminants like lead & chlorine.

There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
1. There were complaints about leakage if the bottle is tipped: YES. If the bottle is on it’s side, water leaks from the where the mouth piece folds over. For me, it happened both when my bottle tipped over on the couch, and when I was testing it out. (DISCLAIMER: it tipped over when I very first filled it up and water came out. Then I was testing how much would come out by shaking it and letting it lay on its side. Leaks)
2. It’s hard to pull water up the straw: YES. I read a review that said they followed the instructions and soaked the filter before using. Mine did not come with instructions; but I know that with many water filters, they do say to soak for about an hour before initial use. I did so when I first opened my package, but it’s still hard to pull water. This would be extremely difficult to use and be frustrating if you’re super thirsty trying to hydrate
3. Complaints of not getting a full 32oz of water. DUH. You have to account for the displacement of water with the filter in there. Plus you won’t get the water that’s under the filter. So maybe about 25-28 Oz of drinking water.
Something I like is the indent on the mouth piece, kind of like a perfect spot for your top teeth to go. Not sure if it will get worn out with time or not.
My boyfriend and I drink water straight from the tap. I feel like the water tastes cleaner, he does not. He is not happy with the product at all and would give it a 2/5 stars, which he says is generous. In his opinion it is just a Nalgene bottle with an added filter and a lid that is garbage.
We have the outdoor filter, but with how difficult it is to drink from the straw, I may not even bring it to go camping, backpacking, or even hiking. If I DO decide to purchase a replacement filter I may continue with the outdoor filter rather than urban just for the fact that it filters out more. But I’ll have to look more into that when the time comes.
I gave 3/5 stars due to the sturdiness of Nalgene bottle (duh) and I do like the mouth bit on the lid. It also comes with an S carabiner which is nice.

Note the virus filter does require a little more lung power , but does not detract.....
The other thing I didn't like is that the filter unit has intakes on the side as well as the bottom. This means when the water level in the bottle drops below the side vents, you start sucking in a lot of air into the straw which is not a nice experience either. Other filter bottles I've used with similar filter performance - like the excellent DrinkSAFE Systems Travel Tap - have intakes only on the bottom of the filter which negates this issue.
