On January 5th 2023, I ordered this hose line system for my Trailer because the hose system on it, was getting old and we were discovering that depending on temperature, the factory lines we had installed, were starting to go bad and leaking in the dead of winter. To solve this we purchased this hose line assembly, and a new regulator. When I received the product I immediately in 20* weather, replaced the line and within an hour my home was warmer than it ever had been. This hose line system, was stunning. It solved every problem I had and even made it easy to tell how much fuel I had left in either 60 gallon tank, regardless of temperature, just at a glance. Rain, sleet or snow, hot, humid, or sweltering the gauges on this system worked like a dream and every time I knew EXACTLY how much fuel I had, and could rely on this line system like clockwork. In fact I "thought" I would probably never have to replace the fuel lines again with how reliable they were.
Then Just yesterday, October 29th 2023, the entire line failed. Both of them, at the same time. Without warning, both line started to leak for absolutely no reason what so ever. At first I thought it was a threading tape issue, as that sometimes happens, the threading sealant tape can wear down over time from continual removal of the hoses due to wear and tear. Nope. That wasn't it. Then I did a full line diagnostics and found that slowly the fuel in the line was actually degrading the interior of the hose and suddenly without warning ruptured the hose. In almost an hour the line went from fully pressurized to depressurized and leaking, out both connections, right at the slight bend of the coiled line. The entire system that had been a god send in the dead of winter was now completely failing and putting myself and my family at risk of having to succumb to bitter cold weather again, all because of a factory failure in the liming of the hose. After close inspection of the broken hose, I discovered that the inner lining was been slowly eaten away by the materials naturally found within propane. Meaning that this hose, this wonderful hose, though manufactured as a "Propane" hose, had now failed to do it's very job, because the materials in the line failed because of the fuel it was designed to sustain.
So.... now... I'm back 10 months later, looking for a new hose system in a time frame, when the weather is about to get really nasty without the ability to heat my home, cook food, or even take a hot shower. Which is really a shame too. This product was... a great product, with a unique and intelligent design. One that I thought should be a standard. BUT now... I just think it's over marketed trash, that I never should have put my faith into.
I bought 2
I had one leak upon initial installation and without investigating returned for replacement.
Later a wind storm caused somthing to tip the sylinder over and the hose started leaking right at the plastic knob for tightening the POL to the tank.
I disassembled the POL connector and found just a tiny bit of some red sealant was used, not even filling one thread pass around the pipe threads.
I used some good pipe sealant and reassembled. It's working fine.
Their original assembly just had inadequate low quality sealant and was not tightened properly.
I have taken the other apart and found the same thing, with the same solution.
If you are competent to change the hose, you can take theis connection apart and put in the sealant.
I previously worked for a propane sales/delivery and propane appliance sales/repair shop.
The gauges work fine. Good reference to amount remaining in the tank. Not as accurate as a float based gauge built into the tank's valve.
You can get the gauge built into a tank valve, but they are expensive, a bit of a pain to install and you won't want to use a tank exchange service ever again
(Actually the tank exchange services only partially fill the tanks and you are paying 2 to 3 times as much per pound of fuel vs going to a place that refills tanks...)
I tried with a little proper yellow pipe tape on the POL threads. It Leaked.
I tried with a lot of yellow tape. It leaked.
I tried it with no tape at all, with clean threads. It leaked.
After all that tape/no tape/tightening, I realized the leak was coming out of the metal fitting I mentioned above.
As others have mentioned, it appears the quality control is just not there. Propane gas is one subject which every component needs to be quality. Needless to say, I'll be sending this one back. Please do not try to resell this one, Amazon. While it still looks brand new, it has potential to be a dangerous item.
