Photo for size reference. Probably about 18-gauge wire. I could not hear any faint "click" when the magnet is moved toward or away from the switch. On the multimeter, no evidence of circuit opening/closing with position of the magnet piece. Will not be installing this. I HIGHLY recommend you do NOT go over the 50W maximum (or even come close to it) to avoid potential fire, as I suspect it will become very hot until the reed switch component melts or catches fire.
We were looking for exactly this product, needed to turn on a light for a walk in cooler when the door opens. This is a normally open switch, so worked out perfect. Between the fact that it is a NO and 120v, made life so much easier. Otherwise you will be using a relay with transformer, etc. This has been in operation for a few months now, and no issues. Great product, good price!
I didn't use it for about a month so I am stuck with it. Buyer beware. I have about a 50/50 success rate with any product from China. Its getting to the point where the country of origin could end up being a deal breaker. It is a simple proximity switch and it just didn't work. Verified with a multimeter.
Okay, these have small, 18 gage wires to hook up the leads. I used crimps to install them in closets along with shrink tubing. I cut out a small piece of trim for the sensor and the magnet went on the door. I used them with small 20 watt halogen pucks. I’ll trade out the bulbs soon for LEDs to cool down the wattage. I wouldn’t use the switches for any large normal 120 volt wattage bulbs even though it says they’re rated for them. As others reported, they seem to not handle it for long. Been using them for three weeks now and they’re fine.
